G# on the Mandolin

All 62 qualities on the root G#, in 10 families, drawn for this chair. Most country songs use three or four of them; the rest are here for the turnaround that reaches further.

The mandolin chair carries the chop on the backbeat — a closed, muted chord landing where a snare would, and a chop is a chord with the ring taken out of it — closed shapes only, damped the instant they sound, landing where a snare would.
